In 1995, sculptor Richard Hunt established a satellite studio in Benton Harbor, Michigan. The expansive building provided a showcase for his early artworks, personal art collection and library.  It was also a place where Hunt came to relax, connect with friends, and complete quieter work.

Before Hunt passed in 2023, he gifted the studio to Krasl Art Center, a neighboring organization with which he held a longtime relationship. It was Hunt’s wish that the studio would become a vibrant and active community resource, and a catalyst for development and innovation in sculpture.

Today the studio hosts monthly community drop-in events, concerts, artist talks, outreach and more. It is open on a limited basis as the building undergoes critical repairs.
